Our Founder
Nimal Lakshapathiarachchi sometimes described as a ‘ veteran broadcaster ‘ is a pioneering figure in private radio and television broadcasting in Srilanka. A man truly ahead of his time.
He was the indefatigable champion of popular culture, a rebel that undermined an artistic ‘ feudal system ‘ that had been engraved in our airwaves for well over half a century in a very short time.
Transforming the industry and making it an essential part of popular culture, indigenous material and form, while maintaining it available and pleasant from all walks of life to everyone.
Nimal, in his way gave normal Lankan youth the ambition of dreaming and aiming high there ever before.
Nimal was clever and perceptive – he had an inherent feeling of what normal Lankans wanted. During his career he played an integral part in the capital maharaja group, creating the image we know today.
He was never a conformist. Instead, Nimal remained hungry and ambitious. Moving on from the capital maharaja group to start OnAirworld and launching Citihitz the first satellite based tele drama channel.
By all accounts he was and remains to be a kindred spirit, a pioneer, a husband, a father and most importantly a dreamer.

Citihitz
Citihitz, the first satellite channel for drama and drama related entertainment programs, was initiated in the year 2007 under the patronage of Dialog Television (Pvt) Limited. The main objective of the channel, managed by OnAir World Ceylon (Pvt) Limited, is to cater all audience for teledrama, movie and its related entertainment and infotainment programmes with the goal of developing the knowledge to appreciate drama among the local viewership.
